We’re looking for volunteers for Flintspiration – Norwich Medieval Churches Weekend (Sat 29 April – Bank Holiday Mon 1 May)!
To help make Flintspiration a success we’re looking for help from people volunteering in a range of roles, including:
- Hosts: Up to 30 volunteers are needed to act as ‘hosts’, meeting visitors to individual churches on the weekend, giving a brief history and pointing out features of interest.
- Sign-posters: Up to 20 volunteers will be required to staff the main Information Hub at St Peter Mancroft Church, giving general background on Norwich’s medieval churches, distributing brochures and paper trails, and providing information about times of guided trails and activities in other churches and around the city.
- Trail Leaders: Up to 30 volunteers are needed to lead structured walks around clusters of churches linked by related architectural or social themes. This is a more involved activity which will involve becoming familiar with a particular group of churches and their story. The intention is not to train ‘expert’ guides, but to equip volunteers to work in pairs, leading themed walks by following a prepared script. Volunteers are welcome to take part in leading a range of themed trails including: Merchants and Monuments; the King Street churches; City Centre Churchyards; Norwich’s Anchorites.
Offers of help from half a day to the full three days welcome. Training will involve 3-4 different components at flexible times. Dates, times and frequency of Guided Trails on the Flintspiration weekend can be negotiable.
Training sessions will be held in March and April, when background on the history of Norwich’s historic churches, Flintspiration, and the specific volunteer role will be provided.
We would love to hear from you. For more information or to register your interest, please contact Stella Eglinton, NHCT Executive Officer: firstname.lastname@example.org, 01603 611530.
